What Is a Manufactured Sand Classifier?
A manufactured sand classifier is a dry powder classification device that removes excess fine particles (dust and micro-fines) from manufactured sand to control the fines content and improve the particle-size distribution of the finished product. Manufactured sand is produced by crushing rocks, and the crushing process generates excessive fine powder that can weaken concrete and mortar. The classifier uses a controlled airflow field and a high-speed rotating rotor to separate the fine fraction from the desired sand fraction: fine particles are carried out with the airflow and collected separately, while the classified sand retains a consistent, well-graded particle-size distribution. By adjusting the rotor speed and airflow, the fines content can be precisely controlled to meet different grading standards and application requirements, making the classifier a key component in modern manufactured-sand production lines.
Applications
- Manufactured-sand production lines for removing excess fine powder
- Fines-content control for concrete and mortar aggregates
- Classification of crushed stone, mineral sand and dry bulk materials
- Powder recovery and dust control in aggregate processing plants
- Improving particle-size distribution and grading consistency of finished sand
